Hi all. I'm very happy with BIAB's conversion of an audio file to a chord sheet. Now I'm wondering if there's a way to get a melody written from a melody input. IOW, starting with a simple melody audio file, ending with the melody written out?
Of course there's software out there that can do this (IntelliScore, et al) , but checking here seems reasonable, even if just for rumors in the wind that it's coming soon.

If you have a solo note audio file, Realband will do this for you. I've used this a couple of times with pretty good success. Mostly likely, you will need to adjust some notes, though. The process will create a midi file. You could then save this midi file and read it into the Melody track of BIAB if you needed to.  Regards, Noel

Excellent Noel, thank you very much! It looks like that should work just fine, and have expanded applications down the road. I haven't yet done a single thing with Realband, but this will be a good place to start. Kudos for the tip!

Okay, I don't get it. When I hit "process" I get the message "there are no midi events in this selection".
My naive response to that message wants to be "well, duh...it's your job to create the midi events...that's what the process button is for !"
Any idea what's gone wrong?

I thought BIAB had that function, too, but I believe it has to read a MIDI file, not an audio file.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

It's been a few versions since I used this conversion process.
I just tried it in Realband 2016 using the file "Listen.wav" that's found under \bb\tutorials - Audio Harmonies and it workked fine.
There are two things to keep in mind...
1. It is designed to be used with just a single note audio file.
2. It's necessary to click on the track and then use CTRL+A to select all of the file/track. Once that's done, the process can be started up and the conversion should proceed.
