This is an original song that I recorded with RealTracks. All the instruments are Real Instruments. I would appreciate suggestions on improving the mix, effects, etc. Thanks in advance for your assistance. I have uploaded the song at Soundcloud.com. Here is the link: GO BABY

Listening right now the only comment I'd make about changing anything is the click track lead in. Other than that is sounds like a 1950's Top Forty tune playing on my car radio. I might add the vocal was spot on for this genre.

Very nice job!

Yes cool tune. The instruments and vocals are nicely done and well balanced. Good job.

Now this is music!

Great vox and super mix.

The only thing I can suggest is to eliminate the count in.

This is a keeper.

Cool tune Steve, sounds like you enjoyed doing the song. A little bass heavy on my end, but it might be my setup. I agree, the count in needs to go. Good Vox, good vibe all the way around.

Good job, Steve! Those were the days. I agree with Toucher, the bass is a little heavy. Maybe it would sound more "authentic" with a standup bass instead of an electric patch, especially if you can get a rockabilly slapback effect.

I like the way the ending extends. I might alter the arrangement a bit, maybe throw in a short hot sax solo in the middle.

And not to be critical, but I just happen to have listened to the original "Ooby Dooby," by Roy Orbison, and if possible, you might want to increase your tempo a bit, maybe even raise the pitch a step or two -- get that fifties youthful energy back -- it goes with the Junior Mints.

Keep up the good work.

Hey I like it. Essence of Bill Halley(Haley? Hailey?) and the Comets. Has a good hook.

Like the others I would take out the count down track. Also, at the end, I could hear your chair squeaking as you turned off the recording.

Last of all, 50's feel or no, I would spread those instruments out from each other. But being crammed together does give it that 50's feel.

Good job Mate.

An Acoustic Bass is in order for this vibe. This is great brother.

You did one fine production here. I was grooving.

I checked in when you first posted but I couldn't get it to play - finally tried again tonight and discovered I was blocking the flash playback - go figure.
All good ideas above but a really good well-balanced mix - really like the clarity of your voice - how much of lower mids did you roll off?. How about throwing that 50s feel a little curve by working some RT Blues Harp into it.

Cheers
