You could be hearing the piano go to the computer and back .. The 2i2 manual is confusing in some ways. It mixes the inst/Line level explanation in with TR/TRS connections, but it is an instrument level signal (electric guitar direct) or Line level (your keyboard) switch for the 1/4' jacks only.
