There is a use and purpose for "dated" new songs..... Film & TV loves them when they have a scene set back in the past... it's cheaper to license your song with a 60's groove for a few hundred bucks as source material in a scene than to license the Jefferson Airplane's song. So, YES, by all means write the dated songs and mix/master them well and place them into the better libraries. You just never know.


That sounds like fun.

I heard them talk about that on one of the Taxi TV shows. And they said if you have some old songs lying around that were actually produced in the 60's, 70's, 80's, that have good production with all those authentic sounds from back then - the chances of a placement are great because you already have that real retro sound instead of having to emulate it. There's probably some folks on here that have some of those sitting in the closet.
