Hello,

It would be nice if a video explaining in detail the fx effects in Real Band could be done...
I have studied the video "Audio effects" and it explains quite well how you can add effects to a track and of course I do this regularly, mostly with one effect...

What I would like is an explanation about the functions, in the RB mixer, of the right part (FX), with exemples about possible chaining effects.

Of course, I have read the explanations contained in the owner s manual, but they are not clear enough for me. what is the use of the FX panel in the upper part and in its lower part?
Thanks for all informations about this topic...

Yes, I have seen the video (first one, concerning RB) as indicated in my post...
and I am familiar with the procedure of adding effects as shown in that same video.

What I do not understand is the following:
If I can add as many as 4 different effects to each track with the procedure explained in that video, what (the eck!) do I need the complete FX right side of the RB mixer??? 8 FX boxes above and 16 boxes underneath, just to do the same thing???

That was my basic question and I would love to see a nice video showing how all this FX business works...

sorry I did not watch all through the vidz

So you read this section (just hold your mouse over the item and you will get popup info):

Aux Busses

Each track's mixer channel strip also has four assignable AUX knobs that let you individually control the send levels for up to four auxiliary effects on each track.

There are eight Aux (auxiliary) effects busses in the Mixer window. Each allows a chain of up to four effects.

You can adjust the Send level, Return level, and output port destination (audio port or subgroup) for each bus.

The [FX] (effects) button at the top of each Aux strip brings up the DirectX/VST Window so you can select effects or edit effects settings.

Effects can also be applied to the individual audio subgroups and output ports.

Each subgroup and audio port has an FX insert, with slots for four chained effects.

This is useful if you wish to apply special effects to a selected group of tracks, or apply them globally to the final stereo output.

Sorry for late reply, I am not at home and follow "from time to time"...
I maybe a bit "thick" (that's what my mum always says to me (!!)) but what you try to explain to me is exactly what I do not understand... It corresponds exactly to what I can read in the RB manual myself... (and I sure can read!).
But I still do not understand what can be achieved which I cannot with the normal procedure od adding a plug-in effect.
Reason why (once again) I would love to have a nice video (for bozos) showing me what these (extra) FX panels can do what I cannot do with the normal procedure.

OK, thank you, now it begins to make sense...
Still remains that a specifical explaination for the RB program would be nice...
Thanks for your input.

I've drawn out this signal flow before.
You can add FX to tracks (cool!)
But you can also send Tracks A,B,C and X to an AUX FX effects area, meaning (for instance) all your lead vocal tracks can go through the same compressor and reverb in one fell swoop.

Or all the drum tracks can go through the same (AUX) EQ and reverb .. or etc etc.

Track FX go first, then these are sent to the AUX FX (in varying amounts using the send dial for each track) and/or these are sent to the Subgroups (again including FX) and then to the main outs.
Lots of routing possibilities once you grasp this.

Here's an old (basic) drawing ..

OK rharv, and thanks for the nice diagram, I slowly start to understand the "thing", but still think a video, showing the effects on different tracks (and how to achieve it in practice), would be a nice thing to explain the whole thing to bozos like me!

Actually, along the path from the Track VST/DX effects out to the Main Output is another chance to add processing by assigning them to Subgroups before the get sent to the Main Outs. These subgroups allow adding 4 more effects as mentioned by someone else earlier in the thread.
Kinda like the AUX sections..

The thing is, these can be either Subgroups (leading to the Main Stereo Out), or can be assigned to individual physical Outputs on your interface. You have to decide between the two .. or mix/match.

OK, I understand the principle but still do not know how to "apply" it.
Checking the box you indicate makes the subgroups apear, as shown by you...
But how do I define the subgroups? Am I limited since I only have presently one audio output (A1)? (line6 UX1 hooked on loud-speakers)
Hope you bring a lot of patience (son, who is that girl?) with you!!

Tracks are first read through and the original sound created.
This sound then runs through the 4 FX slots on the track itself.
In the mixer, if it is an audio track, there are AUX sends that allow you to send a given amount of that signal to the FX in any of the AUX slots (after going through the Track FX).

The subgroups are assigned at the Port level; right click a track and select one of the SubGroups as an output. (see image below)
You can send as many tracks as you like to any Subgroup.
The Subgroups are then summed to the Audio Output selected.
Hope that helps ..
