Is it somehow possible to reduce (or even remove) all the toolbars from the main page? I am planning on trying to use BIAB live and want to dedicate as much space as possible to the chord area.

Thanks

thanks - thats the idea, but I still need access to the mixer section for live balancing control.

Although you tip might work if I can assign an external controller to control the mix...still investigating that in the midi spec for BIAB.

cheers

Ctrl+shift+m will bring up the old type mixer in full screen, or just go to window top right and select it.

You did a wonderful job of showing what could be done to modernize the interface, while retaining a lot of what we already know.

A definite +1.

I really like the retractable toolbars as well as the ability to pin them. Presonus Notion does something similar, except than rather than using a pin button to do so, it just lets you double click to keep it on the screen. Otherwise, the tools retract when you have finished using one of them.

And yes, the floatable mixer should match exactly the features of the static mixer.

Seem to remember Peter Gannon saying (if my memory serves me right) that this could work well in the full screen mode.

I do think I would like a mixer all the time in the half screen mode, just to be able to get quick access to generate tracks etc, if its a dockable mixer then its going to obscure the chord chart when shown, which in my opinion would be a bit of an annoyance, but all the ideas in this video would be great I feel in full screen mode.

Seems to me that if the mixer stays on the main screen (and I can see valid reasons for that), it really should become a vertical, rather than a horizontal mixer. Otherwise, half the horizontal screen space being used by the mixer, leaving little room for the chord chart. If it became vertical, it could take up the full right side of the screen, leaving the entire left of the screen for tracks.

Right now, it just takes up too much screen space, and heaven forbid you want to see the thru or audio track, which just pushes the chord grid down even further.

Good idea with the vertical mixer to minimize the real-estate it currently takes up.

Maybe flexible mixer options, a mixer that can be docked anywhere, floated, or hidden? This would have to please just about everyone.

If it's a dockable mixer, the chord chart needs to change size so as not to have any of its display area obscured. It needs to be the same for any other controls. Even if the docking takes place on the right or left side, the chord chart must not become obscured.

In the video, the chord chart reduces when any of the tool bars are made visible (the top is moved down).

This is a great idea! One of the best interfaces I've seen. I immediately sent an email to PG Music and asked them to look at this.

I use hardly any of the tool bar icons and find it a real nuisance having them visible. I'm sure I recall a long while back you could 'deselect' ones you don't need to see, but this was oddly scrapped.

Hey Trev,
What a set of great enhancements; you must have thought long & hard to come up with these. And a wonderful presentation too.
I think you may have created Band In A Box 2017 laugh

It certainly gets my vote.

Cheers,
Keith

Thanks Keith

I had hoped I had created BiaB 2016, but that wasn't the case. There is however a log of support so, well, maybe 2017 will be the one.

Thanks again for your support

As I've commented each time this prototype surfaces, it would be amazing if BIAB could adopt these GUI ideas by VideoTrack. I think it would go a long way to addressing the perception by some that the program is great but the interface appears dated. It would also add some zing.
