Callie, I don't want to enter because I wouldn't need it if I won. But if I did win, is there a way you could donate my winning to someone needy? Perhaps a music student, or a non-profit organization?

Matt, according to the contest rules, eligibility is open to anyone over 16 with a valid email address. If you have someone or some organization, simply enter their email or forward the contest page so they can enter. The contest is not limited to forum members.

Good idea Charlie. I was more thinking that PG Music must periodically receive requests for assistance, and they would be in a better position to know someone who is deserving.

I hadn't thought of that Matt. I thought of the contest as a way for PGMusic to broaden the exposure of BIAB. I would think they have a process for handling assistance requests that would be more suitable to handle a specific need outside of someone randomly winning a prize. Either way, I like the idea of deserving people or organizations getting such a great program as BIAB...

I tried to put my best take on selling BIAB as a practice tool, notation tool, Karaoke accompaniment program, live accompaniment tool, songwriting aid and everything else I could imagine in my comments when entered a friend's name for the contest and shared the contest page on my Facebook page.

Matt, Charlie,

If I should win, I have no doubt where it will go - Illinois State University. Professor Kim McCord has built the top Music Program in the nation for Special Needs Students. Her personal philosophy seems to be: Don't deny ANY student an opportunity to study music regardless of physical or developmental limitations.

She teaches college students who are deaf, blind, and severely limited physically to unlock the inner musician in all of them.

This is her first semester using Band-In-A-Box through the boundless generosity of Dr. Peter Gannon. She will certainly get our donated software into the hand of her most promising students.

Here is Kim's contact information:

Kimberly McCord
Professor of Music Education
Board Member, International Society for Music Education
School of Music
Campus Box 5660
Illinois State University
Normal, IL 61790
309-438-3365

You will become a part of the best Special Needs Music Program in the US while making one flatulent old Irishman weep with pride and joy.

Thanks friends.

Don, I believe music should be taught in every elementary and high school as a core course the same as math, language, science and math. Music is a basic component of humanity.

I raised my awareness of the amazing teaching capabilities of BIAB as I researched the program to see if it was age appropriate and had a capacity to address its complexity for my 13 year old granddaughter's Christmas gift this year. ( I found it was, and she got the 2016 Pro Pak.)

My inspiration was spawned from testimonials posted this past year. For some, such as Eric Blackmon, it is a primary tool. But I was particularly influenced by TexasHeartRush and Zane Carney who used BIAB to greatly improve their skills.

I also noted you and at least one other gentleman had found that BIAB was able to allow you to overcome physical disabilities and keep your mind and heart in making music that would have been lost to you otherwise.

It seems to be a browser problem. I am using opera and it goes straight to the "thank you" page, but if I try with chrome it works.

Charlie,

I sincerely credit Dr. Gannon and his marvelous software with extending and rejuvenating my interest in life. Music had been a big part of my life before a stroke turned my life upside down. Peter righted my canoe and relit my creative flame.

He, as a doctor, understands the power of music on the human psyche. In fact, a relatively new, legitimate area of medicine which is recognized by Medicare, is Music Therapy. Again, Peter led the medical community with his insight.

I have yet to convince the administration of my nursing home of music's near miraculous power to soothe Alzheimer, Dementia, Hospice and end of life patients, but I persevere.

Yup. My 10 year old daughter is crazy about the latest pop songs and sings along to them (Out of tune, but improving!) on her Ipad. Anyway, she seems to have an ability to memorize every nuance of the song including the lyrics and can easily do 2 hours non stop on the Karaoke machine. Anyway, I'm using BIAB to help her with both her knowledge of how modern music is made and as a tool to help her with English and Maths. Poetry writing and song is not so different as a genre/text type (elementary school teacher wink ) and can easily be put to music.

Also we are recording her times tables against the latest songs as raps to help her learn them. She has dyscalculia which is similar to dyslexia, but instead of letters, numbers float around and don't make sense. BIAB has the potential to help teaching in so many areas! laugh It's also a good tool for creating wild songs for ESL - a bit upmarket to strumming a guitar and belting out ditties. grin
