If I'm reading your post correctly, the problem might be due to USB drive failure or it might be due to the hard drive within the USB casing becoming unseated from its internal connection. This has happened occasionally over the years. I have read posts where it's possible to open the casing and re-seat the drive within it. Now that I want to direct you to one of those posts, I can't seem to find them... I keep on trying...

Either way, it's probably a good idea to touch base with PG Music in relation to this problem and to be guided by them. When drives are faulty, PG Music have always very promptly replaced them.
