Can anyone recommend a free jpg to pdf app that will do batches of files? Ray

That's a new one on me. I've always thought you had to load a JPG into another program, like Microsoft Word or a desktop publishing program, and create the PDF from that. I'll be interested if there is a solution for automation of the process.

Not sure if this idea works. (I don't think it creates individual output files)

Attached Files (Click to download or enlarge) (Only available when you are logged in)
2016-02-29_12-58-44.jpg (97.16 KB, 94 downloads)

Ray,

Have a look at Irfanview. It's freeware and if my memory is correct, does batch conversions, including to pdf. I'll double check when I get home after work.

Noel

Here's a better way:

Attached Files (Click to download or enlarge) (Only available when you are logged in)

2016-02-29_13-16-20.jpg (169.45 KB, 88 downloads)

Microsoft Word is the least desirable program to do that. Once you load a picture into a Word document, the picture is not good for anything else.

Thanks, I know (taught desktop publishing courses). But once it's a PDF, I really didn't think anyone would do anything graphic with it.

Ray,

Irfanview does do batch conversion of graphics to pdf.

I've used the program for batch resizing a directory of images and it worked fine. I haven't yet tried the image to pdf conversion.

It might do the job for you. As already mentioned, it's free.

Noel

Thinking out loud here:

1) get a .pdf printer app, one that when you click "Print" one of the choices becomes your print to .pdf app and allows you to "print" which actually saves it as a .pdf. "Nitro PDF Creator" came with my ThinkPads, there is a free and commercial upgrade, the free works fine.

2) Open your .jpg in whatever app you choose, paint, photoshop, or anything in betwen

3) Select "Print" (in most Windows apps: Ctrl+P)

4) When the printer dialog box comes up select the .pdf printer app (on my computer select Nitro instead of the default Canon)

5) Print to your desktop or convenient folder and you will have a .pdf of your picture.

FastStone Resizer.

Free fast, very good quality resizer and saves as PDF.
Don't have to resize if you don't want to.

Meets the requirements.

I use it a lot and recommend it often.
