It's kind of a neat feature, and I think it goes way back so most users now don't know about it. The numbers you saw are the intervals in the scale of the key, useful if you like ear interval training. The more interesting one for me as a composer and arranger is the Rel to Chord. It tells you that the melody note is the fifth, or dominant seventh etc. Pretty sophisticated feature.
