I've run into this before when using the sound card built into my laptop. Assuming your issue relates to Audio. I had to put a check mark in [Allow Programs To Take Exclusive Control Of This Device] I believe this is opposite of what it sounds like. I think it means {Allow Any Program That Wants To Use This Device To Exclude It (temporarily) From Whatever Program Is Using It At The Time, And Allow The Current Program To Use It.
Fish for this setting in your computer's sound card properties. Might be under Advanced Setting.
