This is just another great loss. Yes, Emerson, Lake and Palmer were always a great band, I was a big fan.

Yes, this is very sad news. This shows how bad depression can be. This from Bing news:
"Keith Emerson shot himself in the head in what’s likely now a suicide investigation. The keyboardist and founder of Emerson, Lake & Palmer was found dead by his girlfriend on Thursday night in the couple’s Santa Monica, California house with a single bullet shot to the head.
The piano player had been depressed as a result of a nerve problem that affected his right hand and severely impaired his ability to play the keyboard. Still, he was slated to perform next week in Japan."
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

Saddest news I have heard for years. Really got tears in my eyes when I read this news yesterday... Spending the rest of the day playing his music... One concert in particular I can recommend, especially if u really know much about this great Keyboard player... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcS4xB8JqYA Keith is not really much in focus on this concert, but it really showing of the greatness of Emerson Lake and Palmer... I have been i love with this bans since age of 15... that's like 40 years !

He was a keyboard wizard for sure.
I remember many years ago reading about his recurring carpal tunnel that kept him from playing a lot. It even caused him to take a break from playing for some time (I forget how long).
It seems a shame to me that he would take his own life like that. But I can't make any judgements about people who do that because I don't understand what would drive anyone to that point.
So Keith is gone to 'the great gig in the sky' and the music there will be better for it.
