When you get to the point that you can't keep your words straight, ya need some help!

So... I asked a few folks to help me out with this one.
World-wide audience participation....

Finland, Pennsylvania, South Africa, California, The Netherlands, Florida, England, North Carolina, Australia, New York, Lousiana, New Zealand, Georgia (US, not Russia)...

In the crowd...
Dani
Kenny (44kfl)
Joanne
Rob (RnAM)
Anne-Marie
Greg
Tom
ROG
Charlie
Herb
Noel
Bob (rsdean)
Josie
RichMac
Janice
Bud

Some folks sent 2 or 3 tracks. In all, there are 32 "audience" tracks.
It was the most difficult mixing I've experienced - but, hugely fun!

A HUGE BIG THANK YOU to all who came to the bar to help me out!

As always, thanks to the BAND!
Style is _CNTRYSH.STY (Country Shuffle w Piano )

RealTracks in style: ~539:Bass, Electric, Pop Sw 120
MIDI SuperTracks in song: 1890:Piano, Solo-Accompaniment CountrySwingJohn Sw 120

TAKE ME DRUNK

by the time someone brought it to my attention
i was four beers past my sober intentions
three hours ago i phoned
and promised i'd be home
i'm sure she's sitting there planning my lynchin'

i couldn't leave until the last strike was thrown
and then someone filled the jukebox up with jones
when the bartender gave last call
i knew i'd stayed too long at the ball
anyone seen my wallet, my keys or my phone?

(chorus)
   take me drunk, i'm home
i'll never find it on my own
i break a promise every time i find this stool
   take me drunk, i'm home
take the one boot i've still got on
try to kick some sense into this drunken fool

i've tried so hard to be the man that she deserves
i just stopped after work for one to calm my nerves
but one turns into ten
i'm falling down again
the straight-and-narrow is filled with dangerous curves

repeat chorus

heck... do it again...

Also... a special thanks to ALL the folks who PARTICIPATE in the forum.
If we all just came here and dumped our songs without actually being a part of things, then every song in the list would show 0 replies - and this (wonderful) forum would simply die. And what a shame that would be. This is a great community...

Drinks on me!

Wow, Floyd... this is a seriously creative project! I love:

1) the playful rhymes...

2) the concept of group participation, which worked very well in this song!

3) The beat and cadence of the song is just perfect for a drinkin' song! I'd love to watch the crowd response to this song if you played it live!

Kudos to you for your usual creative home run, and to all the participants who helped to turn it into a community building effort as well as a truly enjoyable piece o' work!

Hi Floyd,

what a fun project! I like the lyrics and arrangement
and I love that choir starting at 3:12. I've played that countless times imagining all the people singing who I know from the forum. Like Pat said a community building effort.
Thanks for your remarks on the forum. But people who it concerns won't read it anyway.
Thanks for brightening up my Good Friday.

Those 32 tracks audience tracks made this extreeee good! It sounded like it was in a live barroom situation.

Nice work all the way around. Glad to be a part of it.

Hey Floyd.

A superbly frivolous bit of fun, but a seriously good song at the same time.

Thanks for inviting me to participate - loved doing it, even though I'm not a big drinker!

Didn't envy you the mixing job.

Cheers, ROG.

floyd,

This is seriously good! Great writing, great arranging, great producing and all wrapped in a stellar performance! The limerick rhyme scheme is a perfect choice for these lyrics. And that line, "the straight and narrow is full of dangerous curves", is inspired lyric genius at its best. There are many possibilities in those words.

Thank you for including me in the bar scene! What you've done with all of our voices is spectacular.

All the best,
Noel

A usual another masterly told story by the kind of story tellers Floyd.

Another winner with lots of other winners singing along.

Great job.

Hi Floyd, another good song !
The multi-participatory concept is awesome, but instead of a final choir, I think a meddley with people singing one after the other could be even better.

Cheers

Great fun song Floyd, when I saw your post first before listening I immediately thought of Toby Keith's I love this bar (I love that song) but of course yours is totally different but just as enjoyable.

Great live feel to it with all the people you have got involved, and a great mix as usual.

Thanks for all the tips your have given in past really appreciate it.

That was written by a writer with experience! (I will let you decide what I meant by that)

I haven't been commenting much lately, but this could not be ignored!

Quote:

What a line! Just awesome!

Great job chorus! You sang the part believably!

All the way around a great, well written, well performed song. Bumper sticker writing at it's best!

With a "Floyd song", the question is never "Will it be good?" but always "How good will it be?" It was great to get a listen to the rest after "appearing" as one of the drunks in the chorus. Thanks for inviting me in Floyd! This is a lot of fun, and exceedingly clever. I love using "lynchin'" as a rhyme. That's up there with "seen" and Jenny Bernstein". The arrangement, mix, and vocal are at that high level we've all come to expect. AND, great job capturing the whole "bar room" in such a live and natural way! Loved it all the way!! Take care. Greg

Thanks for all the tips your have given in past really appreciate it.

Musiclover - Thanks for droppin in for a listen... There have been a number of "bar sing alongs" in Country music through the years - Toby's being the most recent - and the one that made me think to do this using the crowd ending...

What a line! Just awesome!

Great job chorus! You sang the part believably!

All the way around a great, well written, well performed song. Bumper sticker writing at it's best!

Caaron - appreciate all of that... I have always consider this a "throw away" - the only reason that I decided to record it was to do the crowd thing... smile ...have a bit of fun...

It would certainly be a good candidate for an animated video! (But it doesn't look like not having a video was a liability! Well over a thousand views and at this count over 60 comments!)

Kind of similar to choosing a Bestselling Novel to make into a movie don't you think?

LOL!

Good to see the forum coming together (much like the bar-scene in the song) to have a bit of fun...

This place feels like home.

Pat, you know you are welcome to take this to the big screen - though you should be working on making movies of YOUR songs - I know there have to be more to come... and how tedious would it be to paint all those forum members!!!... Just in case...the guy yelling "More beer!" at the end is Bud... smile

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
