I have windows 10 and BIAB and RT 2016 I'm experiencing some strange behavior. When audio recording in RB level shows up when I am recording (Green Yellow to Red) but after I press Keep the Track there is no Audio. The track is highlighted Brown. Working fine 2 hours ago now no luck.

What Audio type are you using: Internal synth, External synth or Virtual Synth??? Try another option. Check the drivers in use - if MME try ASIO. Check the Soundcard settings - mine sometimes decides to turn off the speakers for no apparent reason. Go to the Audio Settings Icon at the bottom right of the main RB display and check the Playback and Record settings in Windows.

I'm using ASIO its not the speakers. The wave form is zilch. I see the level recording on the VU meter at the Focusrite interface and on the RB input. And I've turned it to orange to test. I hit record and test for 3 or 4 measures, Select Keep the track. When I hit the keep the track button, the part of the track that has been recorded turns BROWN, but there is no audio no waveform. Nothing at all.

Is there a place where I can reset this to factory settings and set-up the ASIO drivers again. BIAB is working fine I can record there.

Shutdown RealBand

In the \Realband folder, find and rename these two files (rename to something you can revert to if necessary)

RB.CFG
Realband.ini

Restart RealBand, it will create new files which essentially are a 'factory reset'

BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.

Thanks VideoTracker

After I do this I will report back if the problem is fixed.

I did that and I changed the audio track to Mono in the Preferences. Evidently You cannot do that. I will go back to changing the individual vocal tracks to mono before I record.

Thanks VideoTracks

There is a place to set the default track type; set it stereo if that is what you want.
Its an option in Prefs

Try going to Prefs - audio tab and click the Drivers button. Make sure the tracks you have highlighted for Input match what the Focusrite is sending.
Sure sounds like the default inputs are displaying sound in VU but are not actually enabled to record..

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

A quick way to test if you have your Focusrite set correctly (to mono or stereo) is to run a quick test track into the other input, whichever is the "other one" from where you were plugged into when you didn't see the waveforms. I did that once, and felt really dumb after I figured it out.

Feeling dumb after I find something simple I was doing wrong is quite common here at Casa del Eastside.

You don't need to record stereo tracks for a mono source like voice or guitar.

Use stereo only when you have a true stereo source and are using 2 mics or grabbing the stereo output from the synth or other stereo device.

THANKS RHARV yes I did not have the second input selected so when I switched the microphone to the other channel of my interface nothing was being recorded. Now my tracks are defaulting to MONO. And when I have two inputs recording it records them to 2 different tracks. This Forum is the best. PG support is fantastic but they were closed FRI-Monday for the holiday.

Thanks,

I had my Guitar Miced up to 1 channel and running the internal microphone pickup hooked to the other channel. They are going to 2 different tracks now which is what I wanted. Its not a true stereo source, But, by routing them to 2 different channels I have control over independent volume, effects, pan etc. If I get a good take I have 2 completely different sounds with the exact same licks. It sounds fantastic.
