There is a place to set the default track type; set it stereo if that is what you want.
Its an option in Prefs
Try going to Prefs - audio tab and click the Drivers button. Make sure the tracks you have highlighted for Input match what the Focusrite is sending.
Sure sounds like the default inputs are displaying sound in VU but are not actually enabled to record.. Yep you are so right Thanks
