1010 interfaces have a digital harness that houses a bunch of connectors. These are pretty vulnerable in a real time use. Have to be careful yanking stuff in/out.

So we use the patchbay to protect it's physical connection points, as changes happen there instead; it's just a direct wired balanced connection 'front end' to the interface.

Not used for re-configuring anything here, just a central physical connection spot that is hardy, handy and handsome .. and has prevented some damage I'm sure.

We yank cables in/out from the patchbay instead of the interface itself. That's all. I know it can be used for other things but that's all we do with it.
Once it's 'in the box' we keep it there, the patchbay is only used to be a nice stable route to the interface and the box.
