I haven't seen this problem, but it sounds like a resources issue.
The fact that the song keeps playing (initially) is not surprising as it will be running in a different (higher priority) thread than the threads running the controls, display updates etc.
What happens if you play the song from the start but mute that track?
Also, what happens if you do the same but play that track and mute all the other tracks?
Do you get the same result?
What version of Sonar?
What are the computer specs (CPU, RAM, O/S version etc)? Also include what sound card/audio interface you are using and what are the buffer settings.
