That Timehttps://soundcloud.com/peterf1957/that-timeI was working on a song called This Time and came up with a set of chords that didn't quite work for the song. As Band in a Box is versatile I changed the style to a jazz one and started noodling around on the guitar - then forgot to save the SGU file it I think it was MANHATN.STY or a variation. Anyway here is a jazzy blues instrumental with me on the 2 electric guitars.

Very laid back. All the instruments work well together. Easy listening at its best.

Hi Peter!
I'll echo the comments about this sounding like something I'd hear in a cocktail lounge during happy hour... (which makes me want to learn a bunch of stuff like this so I can get those gigs!)
You have a very nice and soothing playing style, very easy to listen to.
One observation I would make (speaking as a guitar player myself):
In most bands, the guitar player's job is to decorate the framework. Noodling around to add interest to the chords and fill in when the vocalist drops out is what we do. But that really only works in songs that have lyrics.
Songs need a melody, and if there is no vocalist singing it, then one or more of the instruments has to play it. I don't hear a melody in this song... just a guitar decorating the framework as though a melody exists.
Bottom line, if you are going to write instrumentals, you need to come up with a melody. Fortunately, BIAB has a feature that can create melodies! Or you can create it yourself... the main difference between a melody and a decoration being that a melody tends to repeat from verse to verse, whereas decorations tend to vary.
Having said that, I want to end by saying how much I enjoyed your playing in this song! I've heard good things about your guitar playing by email from other people on the forum, and I have to say their high praise was on the mark! Great job, and I look forward top hearing more from you!

Peter,
An enjoyable listen.
I thought the horns needed to come down some to let the guitar shine (and maybe bump the guitar level up a hair.
Really like what you were doing around the 2:00 mark...

Hi Peter,
I enjoyed the music. You have a very-easy-to-listen-to sound and style.
In case this is useful information....
During the journey, I found myself wondering what the guitar playing would have sounded like if it was in a different register to the horns (maybe an octave higher). Much of the time, because the guitar seemed to sit amongst the multipart harmony of the horns, I found that I became distracted and occasionally lost track of what you were doing.
Overall... very pleasant and very relaxing.
Regards, Noel

Pat Thanks for those observations. This really was just a short improvisation on an interesting chord progression. After a number of listens I think there is a melody developed in the first verse which I play around with a bit - it's all a bit short to develop too much. I can however see where you are coming from.
