In the stylepicker window, for the feature 'Play using Current Chordsheet for song',
tempo is written "t="
I propose to use an universal typo we can find in all pro scores "T°=".

That would imply a more professional approach for BIAB.

I haven't noticed that before, but I'll take your word on it that the symbol should be one that is universally recognized.

Interesting, I have never seen that. I generally would have thought that :

would be a "universal symbol". But most of the scores I read come from Fake Books. smile So just out of curiosity, can you provide a source for this claim?

Interesting. I've never seen the T° symbol before. Maybe it hasn't made it down under yet. As far symbols go, though, I think it's a great way of denoting tempo.

You probably misread my post.
We are not speaking about the indication of value of tempo, as you mention it.
We just speak about an abbreviation for the word 'Tempo' as text. It is very used in the classical music scores.

here is an example (Revereie of Schumann):

Well, actually I'm classically trained, and I don't recall it. I checked my "Rudiments of Music" Manual and was not able to locate it.

I'm certainly familiar with other forms to identify the tempo, including using a note-duration together with an equals sign and a BPM value. I understand Rallentando and "a Tempo"

There are a few others here steeped in music theory who might have come across it (John, are you there?)

Also, maybe it's a European thing.

Wikipedia didn't seem to show the T° (small 'temperature' symbol), but did show Tempo as follows in several places:

Thanks for that example, John-Luke. Now I can say I've seen it at least once.

I've not seen this before, either. The scores I've seen use the spelled out "a tempo". Before this thread, I think if I saw it on a score, I would think "why is there a temperature indicator there?".

I'm not saying it's not a good idea, but I think it's becoming clear it is not "universal".

If I saw that I would say what the hell is a T Diminished chord?

I agree that is not universal, at least not over on this side of the pond and down under.
