Realtracks are audio files and, as such, they will not store as midi.

That being said, if a Realtrack has notation associated with it, the notation is created using midi information and this notation can be saved as midi.

Also, BIAB has a heap of excellent midi-only styles. These would seriously be worth investigating if you wish to create midi files. Any songs assembled using midi styles will save as midi files without issue.

I'm not sure if this applies to the Mac version but the Windows version of BIAB will, by default, automatically substitute Realstyles for midi styles. When I want to use the midi styles, it's necessary for me to disable this auto-substitute feature.
