In my case I'm in the process of building a new music workstation, brand new desktop computer running windows 10, brand new interface, Focusrite 2i4. I just started working on it a couple of days ago.

In my case the first time I play any music through the 2i4 after turning on the computer, doesn't matter what the source is, it comes out very distorted and also seems slow????

Unplugging the USB cable from the 2i4 and plugging it back it fixes the problem, and it is then good until the next time I reboot.

So, it is as if the 2i4 is not getting initialized properly on boot time, but gets setup correctly when I reset it by unplugging the cable then plugging it back in?

Exactly the same problem here, I have a i7 6gen processor, 24GB RAM DDR4L, SSD and 7200 RPM 2TB internal drives. Running Win 10. And I can expect a shockwave of static every time I restart the computer. Un-plug the interface and plug it back in and it works fantastic. Herb I adjusted the buffer, maybe I took it the wrong way. Should I increase the buffer or decrease the buffer. I'm more upset that I had to set it back to MME. Never had to do this on the old PC.

Hi, I think you missed my follow up post? I found an article on the focusrite website talking about the problem, the fix is to disable the windows 10 fast boot up option. Worked like a charm for me, maybe it will work for you too.
