Warning: I am not an expert on this!

I had the same exact question a couple of weeks ago and Mac explained it pretty clearly to me. The BIAB drum, guitar, bass... parts are all controlled by the style. So if you were able to move all the parts around to the "BIAB" locations and then hit "PLAY" the parts would be re-generated to conform to the underlying style -- and poof! -- you would lose your midi parts.

If you hit the green SEQ button, it will show you all the tracks in the underlying midi file (SEQ shows the melody or soloist tracks). You can mute, solo, change those setting to your hearts content. There is probably some way to edit those midinotes, but I am not sure about that.
Edit: So you could mute the guitar part and then add in a real track guitar.

Now, One thing I haven't tried it yet is to load in a midi file, and then load in a style and press play and see what happens. Will I get get two drums, two basses, ... (if all that is on the original midi file)?
