Is there place to set BIAB to ALWAYS SAVE files without any effects, Volume, or PAN. This would include .VST effects.

This allows me to bring in the dry sound to RB. There is nothing worse than adding reverb to reverb.

David,

Try right-clicking on the "Master" track and saving "Set mix to flat, dry, center".

If you have VSTs in place, this will not clear those.

For the VSTs, click on the "Plugins" tab in the mixer and then use the dropdown arrow to access a track's plugin. This seems to be the quickest way. (The mixer's plugin tab also makes it easy to see where VSTs are assigned.)

Regards,
Noel

Does this set all songs to save this way or just the one you are working on? I'm looking for a universal setting, I never want to apply effects in BIAB.

I stand to be corrected on this but as far as I know, there is no universal setting. This is done on a song-by-song basis.

If anyone else knows any alternatives, I have no doubt they'll let us know! That's the beauty of forums. The total knowledge of individual users exceeds what any one user knows.

Didn't intend it that way, I should have asked the question, "Will these settings affect all songs, or just the one you are working on?" I don't know myself.

David,

Apologies if my post didn't read well. I was not offended in the least. I took your question completely at face value smile I've been wrong before and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be wrong again! I don't have any issue at all with publicly getting things incorrect. I honestly don't mind being corrected by those who know the correct answer. (I'm a school teacher and it happens regularly!)

Regards,
Noel

It appears to me that if you follow Noel's example of setting the mix to flat, dry and center. Remove the VST's and then

Select the option: Save Current Mix As Default

you will have created a template that will set BIAB to ALWAYS SAVE files without any effects, Volume, or PAN. This would include .VST effects.

Just below is the option: Load Default Mix if it is needed when you open BIAB session. I haven't tried it, but BIAB may actually open to the 'default' setting once a 'default' has been created. The Load Default mix may be there to allow multiple templates.

Reverb can be deactivated globally in Preferences.

I am not sure what effect any song setting (ALT F2) will have on the default mix. In any song you can set values for pan, volume, reverb, and several others.

I know I tries to sort out the precedence of the default mix, the song settings and the style, which also has similar settings.

another one of the quirks of BIAB - multiple places to achieve same / similar results.

After reconsideration, using Charlie's process will create a problem. I want to open files that I use for backing tracks in BIAB with the Pan,Volume, Reverb settings. So for saving DRY mixes to open in RB I will use Noel's instructions, each time I save a song.

I don't know how to withdraw a question, however, Charlie, Noel, and Dave your information helped me work through the workflow I needed.

I save BIAB files with effects as BT_FILENAME.SGU the I use Noel's procedure to create DRY mixes, Charlie's point to remove all VST's in the BIAB file. Then Save As with the DRY_FILENAME.SGU. When I open up the song in RB I use the DRY_FILENAME.SGU and there is no effects on the tracks.

This way I preserve the BIAB backing track (BT)with the Volume,Pan,effects, and vst info and create a dry file to import into RB.

Charlie thanks, this helped me locate the default settings, which I have searched for for days,
