Guys and Gals, I am in the market for a new DAW, my very old version of Adobe Audition (V3, almost 10 years old), is just not compatible with some of the more modern plugins I want to use, and that problem is just going to get worse.
So, I've downloaded a few demos, including Studio one, which I have heard many good things about.
Here is my question:
I have started working on a song, opened up three tracks for BIAB drums, bass, and keyboards.
So far so good, now I want to start working on my guitar parts. I have recorded a guitar track no problem, but how do I punch in?? I can't see anyway of just punching in a new section??

FYI - Studio One Prime and Artist do not support third-party plugins. There is an add-on for Artist for @ $80 that ads that functionality.

FYI - Studio One Prime and Artist do not support third-party plugins. There is an add-on for Artist for @ $80 that ads that functionality. Yes, I am aware of that. I downloaded the professional version so that I can use my waves plugins. Quite a learning curve compared to audition, I've been playing with it all day. I think my head is about to explode! :p

For some, quite a simpler DAW is Tracktion. Version 4 is entirely free. If your brain doesn't need a fake mixer on the screen to mix, it can be a much more efficient workflow as there are not multiple windows to be clicking/swapping all of the time.

For $50, you can get Cakewalk's Music Creator 7 which does support plugins and has everything from the big DAW's you need and none of the stuff you don't. I used this software's early versions.... MC4 mainly, for years. I recommend it HIGHLY. And now,,,,, PG MUSIC is selling it. What does that tell you about it....? It's great stuff and very affordable.
