i.e. normal playing normal playing then two run throughs of the chorus? as it seems most songs does AABA instead whereas 3 "normal playings" and just one line of the chorus each time.

without doing too much fiddling around?

thanks.

(update mainly when using things like the melody/chord maker to generate songs too).

Evenios,

I'm sorry, but I'm not fully understanding your post.

A song's structure is essentially controlled by the chords you enter and the part markers you use to define sections. To get the maximum benefit of this, I find it better to lay my song out linearly so that it plays from beginning to end with no repeats of tag endings.

To see what I mean, have a look at the below links. The top one is for a song with a verse, chorus, verse, chorus format. The lower link is for a song in AABA format. (In each, I've used the blue and green part markers to define each section.)

https://vimeo.com/142767138 (verse chorus)

https://vimeo.com/143978481 (AABA)

For each of the above, I set BIAB's number of choruses to 1 rather than the default 3.

Lastly, just in case it has been confusing, a 'chorus' in BIAB means "once through the entire song". This is the general use of the word rather than the pop music use for a particular section of a song.

Hope this helps,
Noel

If you want to easily make song form changes, after you define a verse, and a chorus. Use the song form dialog box. (Click the button song form AABA and under that ICON you will see the song form dialog select that.)

1)Enter verse chords in bars 1-16,
2)then enter chorus chords in bars 17 - 33
3)In the song form dialog box at the top beside part A enter starts at bar 1 and continues 16 bars.
4)Besides part B start at Bar 17 and continues 16 bars

5)Below in the song form enter any pattern you want.

You indicated you want AABB, so enter that and generate the song form. If you want ABAB go back into the song form dialog box and change the pattern at the bottom and generate the new song form.

after playing around with it a bit its a pretty neat tool :-) learning a bit more as i go! for me i dont play instruments or read notation but band in a box can generate full songs but i have a good ear and have some experience with music production (as a hobby mostly) so being able to rearrange and edit and tweak the stuff generated by band in a box is great! as thats the key the program makes great stuff on its on and you could stop there......but its nice to be able to fine tune things and "make it your own" :-).
