I finally gave up on trying to load a real track for a electric piano that I previously used !

The only thing I have done is to make the song longer (24 measures instead of 12)

I have tried 3 different ways to load (See attached image)

I can preview the realtrack but it wont load !

I only hear Drums and Bass ????

Thanks for the graphic. It helps heaps.

The problem could be related to the fact that you have a tempo of 90 bpm and the Realtrack is designed for optimum performance at 110 bpm. The tempo of 90 bpm is at the lower end of recommended tempos for your RT.

Slowing the tempo requires stretching the RT audio file and the more it's slowed, the greater the stretching. This sometimes introduces audio artifacts. To avoid this, PG Music invented auto-substitution where RTs better suited to a given tempo are loaded in place of what is in the style loaded.

With the above in mind, click on the Sax icon and then select "Realtrack Preferences". Now deactivate the top auto-substitute option shown below.

Does this help?

Noel

I replicated his sgu file this morning using the same tempo and style as listed in his graphic and BIAB created a solid performance. However, when I changed the number of chorus's to 40 as his sgu file indicates, the piano no longer generates. The style tempo is 140, not sure if that relates to the problem.

I tested the number of chorus's to see where the piano drops and in my sgu file, 34 chorus is the last chorus to generate the piano. 35-40 the piano track does not generate. Change the number of chorus's to 34 and his file should work fine. This may need to be reported to PGMusic as I can't imagine a world without 40 chorus's. wink

Good one Charlie!

The number of choruses in the graphic completely slipped past me.

Interestingly, I tried two other styles at 40 chorus setting, another jazz at 140 tempo and _jO85gas.sty an 85 tempo - Vintage Jazz Quartet - The piano did not load and play for either style.

However, change the chorus to 34, and we have a piano player.

I fear we have a stray semicolon in the code. No way it could be a lazy pianist...

Sorry

Doesn't help

I simply load an older track which works fine but after extending it to play 24 bars instead of 12 the piano is gone.

Magicaldog, in the box located just to the right of the box where you changed the bars from 12 to 24, change the number 40 to a number that is 34 or less. Click on the box and select the lower number from the list.

The piano generated for me when I made that change.

Thanks

I lowered the amount of choruses and now the piano plays fine.

But I wonder what that has got to do with the problem !

And I thought Photoshop was hard to learn smile

It appears that is a minor bug in the program. I'll send a notification to the support team and they will address the issue with a future update.

There are no box just to the right of the box where I changed the bars from 12 to 24 ???

I reckon you mean the actual Chorus amount button ?

I tried with lower amount of choruses from 20 up to 29 and piano loads fine but 30 and up the piano is gone ???

Yes, that's the correct box you've chosen. The amount of choruses was what was causing your problem. That your difference in the number of choruses before the piano drops between your file and mine may be due to differences in our computers and setup.

Just remember in future projects of the 30 chorus limitation until PGMusic releases a patch or update and the bug has been fixed.

I have notified the support team to review this thread so they have been alerted to the issue.

Glad we were able to get you going.

I loaded another tune made previously with 40 playing fine before.

Now the piano is gone ?

That's a 42 minute "song",which exceeded the memory limit since it's a Realtracks style which use memory for the audio tracks. We can see about issuing a message in this case, but in the meantime it looks like you changed it to a 30 minute song which seems like a good workaround. Sine each track is separate audio that's 42 minutes * 3 which is 2 hours of digital audio in memory.

))) And I thought Photoshop was hard to learn

This is just a tip, nothing to do with them memory issue above:

Looking at your chord progression, a good tip would be to use simpler chords, like simple 7ths chords in bars 9 to 12. The result will be a much better sounding and more varied arrangement.

Because BIAB is designed to think like a real musician. If BIAB (or jazz musician) sees a Bm7 BIAB is free to embellish it, but if you put a very specific chord, BIAB assumes you want that one, and so it doesn't embellish it.

Instead of

Bm11 E9 A9
Just put
Bm7 E7 A7

For maximum variability, in jazz stick to the 7th chords,
Cmaj7, C7, Cm7, Cm7b5, C7sus, Cdim7, C, Cm

Of course if you need a more specific chord, go for it and put it there. This is just a tip for variability in what's played. For example, you might sometimes hear a flat 9 on the E7 chord, but you won't if you put E9

Hi Peter

I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it.

Then I loaded the songs (All Realtracks & Realdrums) that didn't load the piano with 40 Choruses before and it played just fine.

I then increased the songs length (+ 50 to +60 min depending on tempo ) by adding bars to made them even longer with 40 choruses and it played perfectly smile

Memory wise I don't see why the program should put every chorus in memory since it only repeats the chorus a certain amount of times!

That's how most programs use RAM from what I know !
If there is something that is exactly the same there is no point in loading it into memory more than once !

The choruses are all different. If instead you want to hear the same chorus repeated hundreds of times then press the play loop button which allows you to loop a region (like a chorus).

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
