I think your post is intriguing but in general the very types you've described are also the personalities that perhaps reticent to "toot their own horns." And my accomplishments including those musical are due hugely more to perseverance than "talent."  Chuckle...good one. For me....the above is a wrap. Music/songwriting (since my live band era of a decade) is creative therapy only. Like many here, I've done it for a long time and it's always enjoyable to come up with a new idea for a song, flesh it out and move along to the next one. I've never aspired to writing formula songs for mass consumption and would have no illusions to that end. My only endeavor with music/songwriting is to keep a respectable distance between me and the you totally suck genre. Still don't know if I've achieved that. Interesting responses. Carry on....
