I am now saving my songs with the faders pulled down on all tracks I don't want to hear, since the Erase track doesn't eliminate the visual clutter and the MUTE settings are not saved with song. Pulling the fader down and then saving seems to be the easiest way to remind myself that I don't want to hear the track and should consider it Erased.

I really wish PG Music would make this behave more sensibly, though.

Good advice on the freezing of the track, BUT since I usually regenerate tracks which are ALL frozen by shift-clicking "Generate and Play" button, it will just unfreeze and regenerate the Erased track.

Keeping the fader pulled down is the only way to stop it from coming back. But when I render the audio to export to my DAW, I end up with a silent audio file for the Erased instrument. Not very elegant, but it will have to do for now.
