Hi all. My new song The River. All comments welcome. Regards Rob. The River Oh please don't send me down the river. Down where my fate awaits for me. Oh please down send me down those rapids. Down where the waters flowing deep. Where only eels and giant cat fish and swamp into the river drains. where the mist is clinging to the dead wood. The rivers calling out my name. ................................................................................. Oh I have heard the stories and the truth in their tales. How many have been lost? their unknown. So please don't send me down there for I never will return. Never walk pathways of my home. ................................................................................... Fill ................................................................................. Oh I have heard the stories and the truth in their tales. How many have been lost? their unknown. So please don't send me down there for I never will return. Never walk pathways of my home. ................................................................................... Be warned by thunder and by lightening, beneath the falls my body lay. The river takes another victim a soul the murky waters crave. So best you travel by the mountain and take the slow route to be sure. So when they search the frigid waters the body they find is not yours. ****** Song Summary ************* File:The river.MGU Key=Ab , Tempo 110, Length (m:s)=2:30 4 bar intro, 61 bar chorus, from bar 5 to bar 65. Well done, Rob. You do this style well.
When the harmonies come in there seems to be a bit of distortion. Everywhere else, the mix was really good...

Thanks Floyd. Did notice the distortion. Couldn't get rid of it. Rob

Hi Rob,
I really enjoyed this song. To me, it gave visions of a ‘Deliverance country chantey’ This type of song suites your voice and style to the rafters. The whole arrangement was crisp, just as good as was the choice of instruments.

Hi Rob,
I love this! In certain circles, this music is still alive and well... Merlefest was FULL of artists who are currently recording and touring with music very similar to this! And that crowd moves around, playing at all of the big music festivals... which means that these retro styles are coming back... maybe not to pop radio, but certainly to music festivals and other venues where older crowds tend to congregate.
Upshot: you're at the right place at the right time with a boatload of talent and a bunch of original music...

Very cool Rob!! You've really captured the vibe. Simple percussion works great and the fiddle sounds like it was played custom for the tune. Vocals were up to your usual high standard. Very enjoyable listen! Take care. Greg

Nice Rob -- I could hear this at the end of a Justified episode as the credits scroll.
You own this groove and we much like it. Cool mysterious "you connect the dots" write and perfect for the vocal.
Enjoyed it!

Hi Paddy. Funny you mention Deliverance (your age is showing) I had that image in my mind when writing. Maybe not as violent though Thanks.
