In my song, I have it set to 1 chorus, because I have a repeat structure set up.

(1st and 2nd endings, and then a DS-al-Coda for the third verse.)

In the notation window, how do I enter the note-based lyrics (and the melody notes) for the 2nd and 3rd verses though?

Are there any example BIAB songs that I could analyze that have complex repeat structures like this? With lyrics in the different verses?

If I could just see how one is set, up I could work out what I was doing wrong.

kerkenat,

I've just tried it out.

Since you have already entered your repeats, the best way to do what you want is to expand the view so that the repeats and DS will show as greyed out areas in a linear view. To do this, (1) click the FakeSheet button and (2) remove the check mark from the top option I've highlighted on the image below.

Once you can see the greyed out regions (bars 9 to 16 on the below image are the repeat of bars 1 to 8), you can then click on the bars in those regions and go into notation editor to add note-based lyrics. Everything will be exactly the same as what you've used to with note-based lyrics.

BIAB treats repeats and DC, DS as a linear performance, when the above 'FakeSheet' option is set to active, it condenses the view of both the chord sheet and the lead sheet. This is purely cosmetic. Behind the scenes, BIAB is still playing in a linear fashion. It is the 'FakeSheet' button highlighted above toggles between the condensed and linear view.

Once you've completed what you need to do, simply click on the 'FakeSheet' button, activate the top option and the condensed view will return.

Regards,
Noel

But lyrics are not entered in Chordsheet view or Lead sheet view.

When I uncheck the Fakesheet display, it does not affect the Notation view, which is the only place to enter lyrics, right?

Now I've been struggling with this all day long, and I'm making some progress. I am still having issues that would be extremely verbose to try to explain in text, but I think I am figuring the procedure out.

Thanks

kerkenat,

You are correct. Note-based lyrics cannot be entered in Chord Sheet of Lead Sheet view. The ONLY place that it's possible to enter them is in Notation View.

When you uncheck the FakeSheet option, that does not affect the Notation view. It does, however, let you click on a bar in the grey region and then, when you enter Notation View, you will be at that bar. That's pretty useful.

Regards,
Noel
