I thought I knew this family . . . but? I installed BIAB using #1 choice. Then I set (in Prefs) to read the RealTracks and Drums (and songs created) from PG's hardrive; it comes up "G" drive in my Explorer. Have I done it right? Mostly seems to be working fine. Thanks, JZ

Depending upon your computer, the external USB drive could be any number of drive letters. You can re-assign the drive letters yourself (and Windows generally, but not always, remembers those re-assignments).
For example, my desktop computer supports multiple formats of flash drives (MultiMediaCard, SD Card, xD Card, etc).
So, by default, I have 3 hard drive partitions (C: for my O/S and apps; D: for my audio libraries; E: for my personal files); 2 DVD writers (F: and G:); the flash drives (H:, I:, and J:) and an internal USB drive for my MP3 files (K:). So if I plugged in the PGMusic USB drive, it would become drive L: (which is next).
Now, I have reassigned most of those drives to use different letters. For example, I don't use xD or MMC cards, so I disable those leaving the one SD card. After reassignment, then I have:
C: - O/S and Apps
D: - audio libraries
E: - my data
F: - MP3 files
G: - 1st DVD drive
H: - 2nd DVD drive
Z: - SD card
When I plug in my external USB for backing up my computer, it is K: and everything else gets assigned I: or J: (depending upon how many I plug in at a time).
So G: is normal. Just make sure you point to the correct folder. And if it fails to work, be sure to check that it didn't change drive letters on you when you plugged it in. It does happen on occasion.

Because of what John explained very clearly, I leave my PG Music drive always connected (so it won't change drive letters).

Thanks guys! Your answers add clout to what I've done here. But I look forward to the day I have enough room (on a dedicated BIAB computer) to install the whole "ball of wax" on said computer (including all the .wav files!)
