Just a thought

I can listen over the Focusrite and the internal sound card. Should I disable the internal sound card?

No, I don't think you can attach an audio file to a post here. You can only link to a file posted somewhere on the Internet, like like Dropbox or a website. If you don't know how to do that, send me a PM with your email address. I can mail you back and you can reply and attach the file for me to post for others to hear.

That's a solid Yes.

You might also try downloading the free utility Latency Mon. Instructions are on the website. It will show if something is running on your PC that is interfering with digital audio. http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon

And, you've run a check for malware, right? Malwarebytes would be good.

Based on this message and the fact that your drivers are all up do date it is starting to sound like some kind of outside interference. By any chance was your WIFI or cell phone turned off? Or any other electrical appliance. Was anything different during that time like your Internet card turned off or a fan or air conditioner turned off? Was it cooler in your apartment (this would indicate a heat problem in your computer?

AFAIK it were your drivers, buffers etc it would happen at every time. But you recorded for 8 hours with no problems.

Does anyone else in your apartment complex have a problem? Do you have problems with other devices like radios or cell phones? I ask because when JonD lived in an apartment complex he had a bass guitar amp that buzzed like crazy. So bad that he couldn't use it but when he moved just 4 houses from our house the buzz went away.

Are you using new properly shielded cables, both speaker, guitar/bass and mic types? Are you sure that they are ok? Have you tried using just the computer audio chip to eliminate your good audio interface as the problem?

One thing to remember is as you try to find the problem only change one thing at a time. If you change a number of things you will never know where the problem originated.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Probably not your problem at all, but I have gotten buzz in the sound when I lay my cell phone on top of my desktop machine (I suspect from all the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 4G transmissions constantly emanating from the cell phone). I've learned to keep my phone away from my computer equipment.

Does this precede a crash?

My old Dell laptop will do this every once in a while. It freezes, if there's audio playing it becomes a fast motorboating repeat loop.... for about 15 seconds. Nothing will stop it until it stops on it's own. It goes blue-screen and reboots.

I've been told it's a driver conflict issue that causes it. It doesn't happen all the time or often, but when it does.... the first thing I do it kill power to the speakers.

I've not had this problem in my DAW. Just with the laptop.

No cell phones or HVAC on at the time this sound continued for the duration of the youtube video then when I attempted to replay it all sound was quiet. Nothing on my computer would play, and All web browsers, web access turned off, antivirus off, firewall off,and all other audio devices were disabled in the device manager.

I see I can't attach the sound file here I will try another method.

@Mario
I'm aware of only changing one thing at a time. But, when updating the drivers the correct procedure requires updating the BIOS, updating the chip set in the computer then applying all the know drivers for the PC. I applied all that would install and ran HP's online scan to determine if there were any new drivers left out. The 2nd scan came up all driver up to date.

Cable situation. I am monitoring the sound from RB and making changes to the levels/effects/pan so I have all of the cables except my headphones unplugged from the unit. Also the pad and phantom power are turned off.

I am creating songs in BIAB with only the headphones attached. I have 2 sets of headphones and when the noise starts I change the headphones just to make sure its not the headphones.

In addition I have 2 usb cables one with and one without a ferite choke both buzz.

@Herb
This computer is 3 months old and thankfully after a couple of very nasty virus attacks of Adds by DNS Unlocker while using McAfee AV 1 year free with the HP ENVY 750-247c purchase (I switched to Avast Internet security professional package) No more AV problems. Yet!

Its windows 10 64 home, i7-6700 @ 3.41GHz intel with 24GB of RAM and 2 disk drives the windows drive is a 128GBSSD the Data Drive is a 2TB 7200 HDD.

I have not had any system problems. Windows loaded takes up 9% of the Physical Memory. Rarely goes above 12 % while in use. When everything else is running BIAB, RB, and sometimes Audacity Task Manager reports CPU stays about 9% Disk is a constant 2% no matter what is running.

OK, here is a sample of the problem DGA is having.

I posted an m4a file here: http://www.mattfinley.com/promos/sample.m4a

My guess: phase distortion from feeding the audio back upon itself in the mixer.

Your guess?

I'm using a Focusrite USB 2i4 interface. Somewhere I saw a popup that had three choices for the interface mine is set to the middle choice the two other choices were maximize/favor recording maximize/playback the middle choice was something like balanced.

Event viewer suggests on the 30th, 31, and June 1, after I installed all the updated drivers, Windows update has attempted to run over 30 times unsuccessfully.

And there is an error related to the PC's health Here is a screen shot related to the health of the computer.

Tomorrow morning I am going to get my computer support on the line again and give them the error codes.

I have heard that identical sound here, I am also using a 2i4 with windows 10.

I found the answer on the focusrite support page. It is caused by using the fast boot option with windows 10, when you do that the drivers for the 2i4 are not loaded properly.

Fix is to turn off the windows 10 fast boot option.

Changed the fast boot setting and now this constant modulated audio has stopped and I hear normal audio in BIAB, RB, WMP, and youtube again. I hope the intermittent loud Buzzing does not happen today.

I will start recording and report back the findings.

If this is all I needed to do it was an easy fix after all frown Thanks Blue Attitude.

I wonder if the intermittent loud buzzing might be a different problem?

Doesn't seem like that would be caused by the driver not being loaded properly, but hopefully I'm wrong about that!

Blue I'm testing now for a day no problem. I disabled the internal sound card which could have been in conflict.
