I have a Samson USB microphone and the microphone includes a headphone jack for real time listening. When I use the microphone I have to set both ny record and playback audio settings to the Samson USB microphone so my suggestions are to check your audio settings and to use the headphone jack built-into the microphone.

My Samson USB microphone is the Samson GO mic. I have been very satisified with the recording sound quality. The microphone has a clear sound but does not sound harsh or brittle. My chief complaint is the packaging and user manual indicates a threaded microphone stand adaptor is included. However not only is the adaptor not included but it has not been included for a long time and Samson never updated the manual or packaging. The microphone can mount to a stand using a spring loaded clip but I don't trust the clip since the mic has slipped from the stand multiple times.
Sorry I missed your question, I am playing my laptop through a Samson Expedition 150 PA, and the mic comes through the speakers. No headphone jack on this one, I play Sax have it mic'ed as well and I use a sound mirror, a reflector that clips on the bell. This allows me to exclude a monitor as well.
