I'm stumped and I hope someone can get me going again.
I used the Audio Chord Wizard and imported an mp3 (Girl by the Beatles, so I can play along with my bass) into the audio track.
Then I froze the bass track. I started entering notes, but they don't play back.
The notes are black but the rests are blue, if that means anything.
When I use the zero and the period on the keypad and step through the notes, they sound, but not on playback. (P D G S tracks are all frozen and muted)
That is my first issue.
Another issue is:
I am trying to enter the lyrics on the melody track,
The 1st and 4th beats of the first bar have triplets (treble clef). Beat 2 & 3 do not. So I set that in the respective Beat Resolution dialogs.
But when I click on E as the first note in the first beat, it seems to enter two notes, because there are 2 ties generated. One tie ties a quarter note, half note, quarter note, all in bar 1. The other tie ties the first beat quarter note of bar 1 with a half note and eighth note in bar 2.
What's up with that?

Some of your post had me confused.
So after using ACW to get the chords, did you enable a style to be used, or are you still hearing the Beatles play the song? When you first use ACW, it disables the BIAB style (and defaults to whatever was selected when you started the ACW). So you either need to enable the style (right click and select enable), or select a style to use (and make sure it's enabled). You then need to generate the accompaniment and disable the original audio track (as the MP3 is now considered the audio track). You can, of course record over the audio track if that's what you want to use for the bass, but you'll need to mute the bass track, lest you have two basses playing in the end.
You first said you froze the bass track, and then indicated all the other tracks were frozen. Freezing the bass track just ensures the bass track plays whatever was there. If you never generated the arrangement (which comes from the selected style), then there's going to be nothing there. Also, if the style used a "RealTrack" for the bass track, and you just added MIDI notes, those MIDI notes aren't going to play, because BIAB thinks its a RealTrack (it won't mix and match on the same track).
As far as entering notes (I presume you mean on the melody track), BIAB has a unique way of entering notation. It enters (I forget exactly) about a measure and a half when you click on the location for the note. When you click on the where the next note goes, it converts the first note to the duration it should be, and then extends that second note. When you want it all to end, you just click the "rest" check box, click there, and everything should show up correctly. It's not like any other program does it, but once you get used to it, it's pretty cool. That way, you don't have to worry about setting half note, quarter note, eighth note, etc first. You just enter notes where they go and it adjusts automatically.
Please provide a little more clarifying information about how you are using the tracks and we'll be able to help you better.

Sorry for the confusion. I have the Beatles song in the audio track. I have the measures all correct as well as the chords, from the ACW. I do not require any 'Style'. When I hit play I want to hear the audio track, in addition to the manually entered bass track notation and see the note-based lyrics that are on the muted melody track.
Only audio and bass tracks are unmuted.
Then I can display the bass track in the notation screen and/or fretboard display as I play along with JPG&R.
Is that possible?

I'm pretty sure you need to enable a style to hear any of the accompaniment tracks (I'm not at my music machine, so can't confirm, but I believe that if the style is disabled - you'll see an "X" showing it's disabled - only the melody, soloist, and audio tracks will play). Why not instead enter your bass notes on the soloist track, with the melody/lyrics on the melody track. I'm pretty sure that would work whether the style was disabled or not.

I tried that.
I swear I've never had this many issues with Editable Notation mode.
When i tried entering my bass notes in the Solo track it puts them all in the treble staff with bukoo ledger lines.
Plus the two issues I described in the first part of this post.
