I don't know if this is the issue...

The decay (if any) on an accordion sound is very, very short. This is how the instrument works. As soon as the accordionist takes his fingers off the note(s), the air stops blowing through the reed and the sounds stops pretty much instantaneously.

To test this out, try loading an instrument that has a naturally long decay (like vibraphone) and see if the problem persists.
