https://soundcloud.com/user-564042721/come-home-to-me

Becoming a dad again at a riper age has been the inspiration for a few songs lately.
I loved the piano accomp. but found I couldn`t record a decent vocal without hearing a strummed guitar which I then deleted- my comfort zone is being stretched by having real musicians playing my songs!

Come Home To Me

V1

our chldren are the branches
of tomorrow`s shade
when we`ll look up into the leaves
their laughter has made
all my hopes are now of this
for you are bound away
that there`s a place in your heart
where we`ll always play

C1

close your eyes
beneath the arms of our tree
come home come home to me

V2

if by rippling water
in a silent place
or on cold hard streets
without kindness or grace
you should question how love
deceived you to soar
just to fall broken winged
alone on that shore

C2

close your eyes
there`s a road over that sea
come home come home to me

Br

and if your life climbs so far from mine
our sandcastles and silly games
be you prince or beggar I`m your shield in any weather
and I hold you still the same
little boy I long to see
come home come home to me

rpt V1/C1

Robert,

Nice, sentimental song and a good sound to compliment it. The piano/cello/strings is a great combination for this. (I thought the vocal could use just a little more reverb.)

Thanks for listening again, Floyd.I`m really enjoying playing with Nectar on vocals and this was a first try at a ballad- going to see how your suggestion on the reverb sounds.

Hello Robert,

Definitely a nice song! I agree with Floyd that the vocal could use a little bit more verb.
I'm pretty sure that Nectar has many of them ;-)

Hi Pat
Thanks for the listen. The Realtracks cello blew me away when I heard it - honey but not sugary!

Hello,
Glad you liked the song.
Nectar is a great tool to have... at the present I`m sticking close to the the presets until I understand better what it can do.

Robert,

The sound of piano and cello is perfectly chosen to complement the sincerity of your performance and the heartfelt honesty of your lyrics.

You've done a great job getting this together and posting.

All the best,
Noel

Hi Robert,

This is a beautifully scripted song, The instruments you chose underpin it perfectly.
Well sung, and for me a big lump in the throat, as the words fits in so well with a phase in my own life.

Very pretty!! Arrangement works very well. Some nice poetic images. I particularly liked...

be you prince or beggar I`m your shield in any weather
and I hold you still the same

Very enjoyable tune! Take care. Greg

Many thanks, Noel
The choosing of backing instruments and production on most songs I`ve found a hard go so far but this one was simple and enjoyable.
Cheers.

Hi Paddy,
I`m glad the song resonated for you; it took me a few takes on the vocal to keep my own throat lump in check!

Thank you for your kind words, Greg
The lines you liked best are the most emotional for me.
