Before I install the disks for BIAB 2016 in Windows 7, should I uninstall BIAB 2014, or will BIAB 2016 install OK right over it?
If I should uninstall the previous version first, will my musical work be automatically saved, or should I save it to an external drive first?
Note: I am just getting back to BIAB after all-too-long in neglect, which I hope explains the elementary-ness of my questions.

Hi Leo,
I always install directly over the top of my previous version of BIAB. This allows me to keep any special additions that came along with previous versions and are not in the new version I'm installing.
Also, I always keep a backup of my musical work and my current BIAB installation. My motto is 'Never trust computers'. I encourage to make a backup. That being said, I have never yet had to use the backups. My experience is that the latest version of BIAB installs seamlessly over existing versions and everything remains intact.

Been doing upgrades since I bought version 2009 and I have never had a problem after the upgrade has finished. You should be just fine.
BUT, just to be sure, I always make a copy of the BIAB program before I do the upgrade to another HD or removable HD. After a couple of weeks, I delete the backup once I am sure I have encountered no problems.

I second (OK, third) the above two replies. Make a backup, then install the new version directly over the top of the old version. Yep, this is exactly what I do also.
My wife had her driving test today.
She got 8 out of 10.
The other 2 jumped out of the way!

Installing a new version of BiaB wouldn't overwrite any of your songs. The exception to this would be if you modified any of our songs or styles and saved them with the same name. In that case, and as a general rule, a backup is a great idea.
