Spot on, Bob!?
I revamped the classic surf tune Wipeout (cant post here as its a Cover) and the zizzling cymbals swamped the drum track.
Used native 20 band EQ in my DAW to a) cut the higher freqs of the cymbals and b) boosted the lowers to get some more Oomph into the Toms. It worked - sort of. Definitely better but not great.
Made me wonder what the "Reference" was that PGs sound engineer used to decide that the final Mix on the RD was the right one.
Just my two cents worth.
