I've been using BIAB in live gigs for over 10 years, today was it's first total failure.
First of all, it's the 2016 Audiophile version with the latest upgrades. Computer is a Samsung laptop running Windows 10. I've been using this computer with this version BIAB since I purchased it last fall, and using W-10 for abut 6 weeks. I've never had any problems.
Up until last week on live gigs I've been running audio out of the headphone jack, but recently noticed it beginning to become intermittent, so I began using an M-Audio Fast Track C400 (USB connection to the computer) that I used a couple of years ago on this computer when doing some recording. I did have to change BIAB's audio setting to ASIO. Before going to the gig I turned the computer off and rebooted, loaded BIAB and everything seemed to be fine.
At the gig the computer boots up just fine and runs W10. When I begin to load BIAB I get error messages, "Your driver uses a data format the the program doesn't yet support" "Error creating ASIO buffer" "Error starting ASIO driver"
BIAB continues to load, and I can load a song file. Hitting play causes these same error messages and then BIAB hangs up and stops responding. BIAB also hangs after killing/restarting BIAB when I try to access the audio settings to see if I can change drivers.
I found and loaded the "ASIO for All" driver on the internet, but no change in symptoms.
This is something I may have to work directly with PG support and will do that during business hours Monday if I've not found some other solution. Appreciate any other suggestions.
Thanks John Payne

The first thing I would look at is making sure your Fast Track is set for 16 bit 44100. BIAB runs best there. Make sure the ASIO driver is set to match that.

Well ... that didn't take long.
During the time it took me to write the comments above it occurred to me to try some other audio program, so I loaded Audacity, configured it for the C400 and it worked. Then reloaded BIAB, and that now works perfectly also.
I'm guessing somehow the interface between BIAB and the audio drivers got into some sort of hang-up state?
I'll play with this all more to see if I can re-create the problem.
Hoping my issues add insight to others?
John

In case it helps, Windows 10 just made their 'anniversary update' available in the last few days, and it's rolling out on some sort of 'newest computer first' schedule. You may have been updated (unless you have the Pro version where you can turn off these automatic updates). Then, by running another audio program, your system 'corrected' drivers somehow. Just a guess, but it helps to know all the possible variables.
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Fender Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Ahhh ... playing around trying to re-create the problem made me remember something. When I first got this laptop (3+ years) I was using Pro Tools 9 for recording. At that time I noticed this C400 was sensitive to which USB port it connected to. Hadn't used the C400 much since then until a few days ago, but all was good as I'd happened to connect it to one of the other USB ports.
Setting up at the gig I guess I plugged the C400 into that specific USB port that had previous problem with the C400. I did try changing this at the gig but it still didn't work. It appears that when it gets in this bind running some other audio program such as Audacity with the C400 connected to one of the other USP ports clears the problem and BIAB works fine.
I can now re-create this problem and solution here in the studio. So, it's not a BIAB problem but apparently something idiocentric with my set-up.
However, now that the headphone jack's become a problem on this laptop I've begun looking at new digital I/O units and Iprobably need to begin looking for a new laptop too. Any suggestions for digital I/O that works well with BIAB would be greatly appreciated.
Hope these posts have been somewhat entertaining -- if not terribly relevant.
