Just "re-set" to factory settings. So I have VST "on" and can't hear the melody (which is a midi file). As soon as I turn VST "off", my Coyote/Forte seems then to work fine, but then I don't have my "realtracks" for accompaniment. How do I make both work at the same time?

I don't think you are hearing Coyote Forte, but the Microsoft synth. Go to Preference, MIDI driver. You do need VST checked, and then reload the Coyote Forte as your VST.

You probably lost the audio setting of your soundcard, too. You need to go back to the Audio button and select your soundcard, and perhaps an ASIO driver.

Tip: when you get this all set up again, Save the settings by name. It will give you the opportunity to do this when you go to reset them (which you can abort).

:)I'm not there yet. But found that loading an alternate style would at least keep the program running for the particular song. More on that as I progress. BTW, I have installed Coyote at least 12 times but I don't know where it's putting it.(I'm running BIAB off of the supplied hardrive) and it doesn't show up for me to choose). But as I only need midi now for my melodies, the Microsoft midi driver works for me. Am I "on-target" or misjudging a situation?

Hi Johnny. Sure, you'll hear the melodies using the Microsoft synth but you'd be a lot happier with their sound quality if you could get the Coyote Forte working.

Perhaps a call to PG Music Support would help; they can remote into your computer and see what's wrong when you try to install Coyote Forte.

Coyote installs to C:\Program Files (x86)\Coyote\

Then depending on your version select either the WT or Forte folder .. you should see the .dll file there.
It should just show up though if you installed the DXi version, as this is an OS install that gets registered in Windows.

To use it as default, check the MIDI Devices area and then the Send All MIDI to VSTi synth dropdown to initiate it.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Wow, thank you rharv. Everytime I choose that .dll, it tells me I can't chose it because it's a 64bit file! And Matt, I didn't know BIAB could remote into my computer!! I'll call them right away Monday morning. Thank you. JZ

JUST IS case, some terms and this may, or may not be your issue.

Coyote WT (the free "re-packaged" MS wavetable) and the Coyote Forte DXi plugin (the PAID for, and much better plug-in ROMpler, synth version) are DXi's (aka DirectX instruments).

THEY ARE NOT VSTi's(Virtual Studio Technology instruments)

Within BIAB, RB (or even PowerTracks) YOU SHOULD NEVER point to a DXi/DX ".dll" like you have to for VSTi and VST .dll's, that WILL cause issues and problems becasue the DXi .dll is a different beast than a VSTi .dll, it is all "wrong."

Either CoyoteWT and and ForteDxi plugin are installed as DXI's correctly on your computer, and will be listed as a DXi for you by BIAB/RB/PT, or they are not. Usually becasue they are not installed, not installed properly, or have not been added to the "DXiPluginList.ini" file (for whatever reason) by BIAB/RB/PT at install time.

Good Luck
Larry

PS if you HAVE manually tried to point to and add any DXi or DX .dll (as if it were a VSTi/VST) GO REMOVE IT from your list by using the "Options" button on your "Plugin" pull-down menu then "Remove VST plugin (from list)..." button.

If a dll is in C:\Program Files (x86)\ and the OS says it is a 64 bit dll I'd be concerned;
by definition, only 32 bit programs should install to the C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder ...

Something doesn't sound right.
You may want to remove the current dlls and re-download from a trusted source.

As Larry and I mentioned; if installed correctly the Coyote Soft Synths should just appear in your available selections and really not need to be manually found this way.

As has been said, both the Coyote WT and Coyote Forte are DXi's, not VSTi's. I think I would try uninstalling Coyote (both WT and Forte, assuming you have both, and make sure you find the installers for both before doing so - the WT is on your BIAB external USB and the Forte is a download you should have received when you purchased it). Then re-install them both by selecting "run as administrator" to make sure everything gets registered properly in the registry.

At that point, you should just see them as available DXi's (not VSTi's - you do not go out and find the DLL, the Windows Registry handles the interface). If you don't see them still, then I would go to the DX/VST screen, select options, and then select the button "Scan for New DX Plugins" to see if it picks it up.

OK. Am in the process of re-installing and putting EVERYTHING including the "WAV'S" on the main hardrive (always wanted to do that anyway). I'll be back as it says this takes all day. Thanks guys, for all the help.

OK! Good morning family! Whew! Long night. Re-installed program and did it onto the computers' hardrive. Coyote WT is working perfectly now! That may have been "pilot error" now that I've seen how it works. Moved all files, RT and Drums onto same drive. Then set preferences (RT's and Drums) to point to C:BB. Lost some audio, but I'm sure will find it today and then move it onto the drive also. Will check everything throughout today and report. Such great help all, Thank you! BTW, new XTRA_STYLS_PAK is super; Love the richness/smoothness in balance! JZ
