Let me see if I can phrase this coherently. I am using the drop box in BIAB to convert each track to wav. Then I drag them individually over to my DAW (Ableton) For some reason there is always at least one track, usually the bass, that is not in sync with the rest of the tracks. This might be a daw problem but I thought I would start here. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Bethany

What is your sound card and driver mode? Are there a mixture of audio and midi tracks or are they all the same type?

I tried dragging the tracks a few time but I always ended up with a bunch of tracks I didn't want so I switched to a different method.

Now, I set up a folder for each song to contain all the files for that song project. In BB or RB I simply EXPORT the tracks one by one to that folder. I label them appropriately and from my DAW, I then use the IMPORT TRACK function to move them in.

Select the entire track to export and there should not be any issue with lining them up properly in the DAW.

Bethany, we welcome you to the forum.

Don't let my next questions confuse you; it may not apply to you, but I'm just checked something with Herb.

Herb, when you do it that way, then I assume you don't need to be concerned with the /Drop folder contents building up, right? Do you use Abelton Live, and is it one of the DAWs that require that the contents of the Drop folder remain?

Bethany, welcome also to the neighborhood

One thing to check when dragging to another DAW is to make sure that

A: The cursor is at the start of the song when you drag the song into your DAW

B: That the Tempo in the DAW matches the tempo of the song from BiaB

Either of these can throw the timing of your imported wave file out.

I do it very much like guitarhacker(herb) explains.

I export the wav files selecting "one wav file per track" from biab.

I'm using Logic Pro X and have never had a problem adding the tracks to a project.
I like to copy the biab .wav's to the Logic project directory. Just my approach.
I can either select the file to add a track or drag and drop into the project

Theoretically I store the original wav file in the project folder till the point where my mods would make it useless to have as backup. In practice, they mostly lie around forever as digital detritus on my hard drive. Oh well, hard drives are cheap, even SSD's.

Good mixing.

In the past, I have tried to drag and drop from RB. I select one track and drag it to Sonar. For some reason I end up with about 12 tracks and they're all empty except for the one I selected. So now, I simply Export one at a time to a folder and grab them from inside Sonar to populate the tracks. No... I don't need to keep those tracks in the folder.

Matt,

In case it's useful information...

I work similarly to Herb. I prefer to save my tracks from Realband (a) because I often use the multiriff feature for multiple generations and (b) because, once generated, it only takes a couple of seconds to write the WAV file to disk. I personally find this more efficient than drag and drop.

Regards,
Noel

Thanks everyone for the responses! I will try to folder suggestion.
FYI the drag and drop works great from BIAB to Real Band, of course and to Reaper as well. Just having problems with Ableton.

I use Pro Tools which works like Logic. I render the file to .wav, then I drag the files to the session and they're good to go from there. Like some people have said, make sure that your temp and time signature match with your audio. Also, make sure that the sample rate matches as well. I have times where the audio will pitch shift because I did not pay attention to the sample rate.
