If writing your own styles, you are restricted to MIDI styles as far as I know. That means a two bar ending.

If you want a held chord as an ending, and the MIDI patch you are using takes longer than two bars to fade out, it will clip at the end of the second bar.

If there is a way around that, I don't know of it.

My fix is to take advantage of that cut off, make all the instruments cut off at the end of the two bar ending and then at the very end cut off period, a little drum lick ending on the kick drum at the very end of that second measure (Live Drums - not the drum grid).

Then it makes the choked chord sound intentional instead of weird.
