'Add' simply means to add a particular note to a normal chord.

For example, Badd11 means to play a B chord and then add the 11 note of the B major scale. Since a major scale only has 8 notes, the 11th note is the 3rd note after the octave (i.e. E). Thus Badd11 would be B-D#-F#-E. More often than not, the extensions that are given in chords are melody notes and need not be considered when playing the backing.

Badd11/A is actually a variation of B7. Since the 11th is often used to obtain a sus4 sound, I suspect that Badd11/A will sound ok as Bsus4/A.
