Bacharach and Cat Stevens did this all the time. That's what makes their music so recognizable.

Off the top of my head for Bacharach, think: "I'll never fall in love again", "I say a little prayer for you", "Anyone who had a heart", "The Look Of Love" (stacks more).

But one of the absolute classics has to be Lennon and McCartney's: "Fool on the Hill" which opens in 3/4 and switches to 4/4 at the chorus. Pure, sweet genius - musically and lyrically. Nothing less.
