It's fun to read your PRO statement. It lists the songs they used, the show it was used in, how long the song segment was in the show and how much it earned for you.

It's sometimes only used for 5 seconds or less and earns you less than a nickle. I think the largest song earning for a single cue use was $2.57 where it was played in the background of the show for close to a minute.

Yeah, until you have thousands of cues being used the money is not the reason you do this. My first BMI check (which is taxable income) was enough for my wife and I to go have a happy meal at the golden arches with an apple pie for dessert.

You do it because you enjoy writing the cues... and you enjoy that your music is being used by someone else to set the scene and mood in a show or movie.

Yeah, it's possible to use BB/RB to do it all but it really helps if you can provide some live instrument in that cue. And the quality is paramount.
