Bigger is better when it comes to drive size. The hard drive should have ample size for users to add there own content. I'm thinking a minimum of 500Gb, especially given the new video features of the program.

It also depends on what you bought. The audiophile version of BIAB requires about three times that much storage.

Welcome to the forum.

500Gb is actually considered 'smallish' by today's standards.

I would go for 1 Tb as your entry level. The price is probably not that much more expensive.

Welcome also to the neighborhood.

I'm not being negative about this wish, as I think all wishes are valid.

For me, it's also a price consideration. As has been discussed on the forum, a good part of the cost for BIAB/RB is the cost of the hard drive itself. I've got plenty of spare USB external (and internal SATA) drives lying around, but don't want to pay for a larger drive if it is much more expensive than what is required to deliver the content.

I just use the drive as a backup for the program content so I can restore if ever needed. It's all going to be copied to another (larger) drive, anyway (whether internal or external). And I never store my own created content on a program files drive; always keep them separate. But I know other folks have different work flows, which is fine. To each their own.

I just don't want the price to go up just to purchase the software to get additional drive space I don't need.

I may have misinterpreted the O/P's meaning. I thought they were considering purchasing their own drive for copying BiaB data to, and general other use as well. But perhaps they were referring to the USB removable drive that comes with the UltraPlusPak, EverythingPak and Audiophile versions.

If it refers to the purchased USB drive then yes, it only needs to deliver the PG Music content. Keep the price down as much as possible. As Matt pointed out, the Audiophile version requires much larger capacity.

As it is a rather odd post for the Wishlist, I would like to hear back from the ojamesjr7 what exactly was being asked for. But as it is his first post, no problem giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Hello ojamesjr7,

Good point about hard drives, generally speaking more capacity is always desirable. However we tend to view the external drives more as a delivery method for the program and files due to it's large size, rather than for personal file storage. I advise most customers to store all their song files, renders, videos etc. on in a folder on their computer's internal drive in addition to backing them up on a separate external drive. My thinking behind this is that should your hard drive fail or get damaged we can replace the drive and program, but we can't replace your personal data. I tend to recommend installing the whole program on your computer and putting the hard drive in a safe place for much the same reason. Anyone who's lost a piece of gear on their desk to a stray cup of coffee knows what I'm talking about (and I speak from experience).

If enough users are interested in getting the program on bigger hard drives I'm sure we'd be able to look into it, though cost and availability would certainly be factors. We could perhaps look into a tier system of options, where users could request one of several hard drive sizes (160, 320, 500 etc.) if people would be interested?
