Ok, Mario and I just couldn't resist this, taking full advantage of the Xtra Styles. Mario D, Right Channel Guitar Duel. Listen for shout outs to BIAB Forum at End. Sorry Frank Zappa, but you started it man.

This Means War, Mario
By David Snyder

with Mario D, Guitar (right channel)

Apologies to Frank Zappa

V1

There’s a guy with an axe named Mario
Played the blues both fast and slow
He posted his Songs in Band in a Box
Made a Fool of Me by the way he rocks

One minute he’s playing the Grateful Dead
Then the whipping post in the old woodshed
Next thing I know comes Stevie Ray
Make a fool of me by the way he play

Ch:

This is means war, Mario
I’m calling out to the devil below
Calling my friend Adrien Belew
This means war and I’m coming for you
Coming for you
Coming for you
Coming for you

Take This Mario
Wait! Mario D, has just entered the studio
Ok, then! It’s your turn Mario

[Guitar Instrumental duel to the death]

Bridge:

Wait a minute, I have a thought
Why should we be fighting
Why can't we just play beautiful music
Together, in harmony
and complement one another
Mario I think I see the light
Go for it Mario
I’ll follow your lead!
That’s what I’m talking about!
That’s what I’m talking about!

Outro:

Thank you ladies and gentlemen!!
This has been the ghost of Frank Zappa

David & Mario,
Finally we have the musical equivalent of my son`s Xbox battles!
There`s lots of gore left by the guitar here... and maybe even a little Apocalpse Now in that vocal, David.
Somehow there`s also a sweet message of support from compadres here... gratefully received & returned!

Robert

If ever a song screamed for a Pat Marr animation this is it.

Great guitars by you and MarioD.

Fun listen...

Yep... I'm 100% behind Charlie on this one. Lots of talent on show here in the guitars! Definitely a collaboration with a difference.

Noel

David and Mario,
Well what can I say? An interesting idea for a Collab! and I certainly see the "more weird Zappa" influence.
In my mind it would have been great to have had "more structure" to the solos and maybe ending with some harmony playing like in Thin Lizzie and Wishbone Ash

You are certainly a songwriting machine, David

Hey thanks everybody and we appreciate your patience! smile

For a little clarification, this entire thing was intentionally designed to be a spoof, on a guy who built an entire career doing spoofs, and I wanted it to be somewhat chaotic and incoherent just for fun. I find incoherence to be extremely liberating after a morning's spin with the front page news. Somehow, being utterly illogical brings me peace in the face of an illogical world.

I thought Mario's soloing was great, but I was attempting to be utterly ridiculous on my side of the fence and hopefully I was successful.

Now I will return to my more serious composition of a 5 part Bach invention for church organ and bagpipe. I will never joke again! I promise! Really! No, I'm not kidding! This was my last joke!

smile

In case anyone wants to cover this song at their next social event, here is the chord chart.

Thanks Scott. I promise we were not doing the same stuff the band was doing when they recorded Ziggy.

Scouts honor.

Just like Zappa, it was nothing but coffee man. Nothing but coffee.

Thanks Callie!!!

Mario and I consider that part of our "normal genre."

But since you guys apparently like crazy, we will now send you something truly crazy. Something a little less conservative.

I was just sticking my toe in. Now I know how you roll, be prepared!!

LOL!!
A true guitar war.
No need to apologize to Frank Zappa (we think....)
But yes, this definitely is asking for a Pat Marr animation ;-)

Coffee and IPA's for me... Scout's honor too. But man did I ever go through a Zappa phase with The Mother's Of Invention 1.0

We enjoyed the ghost and everything that went into producing it and thanks for the shout-out!

Gotta send this to some friends of the 1969 ilk smile

Yup. Still have his first three buried somewhere in the basement vinyl pile. FWIW, a great musician I worked with in the 60's (we booked and recorded bands) later played bass with Zappa.
