Hi

Is there a certain level of volume I should set before I export wav files i.e. pan set to centre volume 100 etc.

As I load the wav files into my daw..it does not sound as good as in biab.

Even though I then set about mixing the song...?

Any thoughts..!

P.S. I am using Acid as the daw.

Hello Colly,

Generally your tracks are going to be a bit quieter in a DAW then they are in Band-in-a-Box, you're dealing with unmastered audio so that's just to be expected. You can push the levels up into the yellow section of your Master VU meters if you really want more volume, but generally you want to leave yourself a bit of headroom when you move over to a DAW. That will make mixing, adding effects etc. much easier on the DAW side.

I usually leave everything panned centre with the volume between 90-100 if I'm moving the tracks for a personal project.

colly,

Like Kallum, I always save wav files from BIAB without any effects such as panning, reverb, compression, etc. I prefer to add these in my DAW.

When the these raw wavs are loaded into DAW, they will initially sound bland because they do not have the effects that BIAB processed the audio with.

If you like BIAB's effects, though, then simply export the wavs without altering anything. If you'd prefer to save the wavs without effects then right-click on the "Master" tracks and select the 'flat, dry, center' option (I nearly always use this prior to exporting).

Don't be afraid to experiment! While it's sometimes hard to know what works best, your ears will soon tell you what doesn't work.

Regards,
Noel

Great stuff guys, not trying to avoid the learning curve just thought I

would ask for a bit of guidance.

Been doing what you have said and I get exactly what you mean.

It does within reason come down to an individual choice.

But listening to some of the songs posted hear ...sounds just the way I

want to get things done.

Onwards and upwards.
