Folks, I just installed BIAB's latest Mac and Mega Pac and several of Bob Nortons fake book discs. Problem one is that when I choose a song from Bob Norton's fake discs I only hear the drums and no other instruments. I have everything set to factory settings. When I choose the "piano" in the tab next to the "mixer" I see the piano keys and bass keys playing on the keyboard. Drums is in green, Piano and Bass are in yellow.
More questions to follow once I get this worked out. Thanks!!!
PS: When I open style picker I see lots of files and can easily "quick play" them. When I go to "band styles (best real styles) all styles are grayed out.

Did you install all of the disks? That sounds like issues that would be cause by a partial install. For example. How many folders do you see in applications band-in-a-box/realtracks
The issue with silent Norton styles would be from midi sounds. Are you using the built in midi sounds on the Mac maybe the volume isn't turned up?

UPDATE but still need a little help. I have the Ketron SD2 outputting to my keyboard amp, all styles seem to be present, however, Real Drums only plays through my Mac book speaker. I know I can deselect in the real drums box "substitute real drums for midi" and then the drum sounds go to the amp. I assume there are midi drums and I would like to use those when available. Just don't know how to set out up. Thanks in advance for any help. Bud

You need a way to get your Mac audio output to your keyboard amp. You computer controls the audio (that's why you hear it through the computer speaker), but the MIDI data is going out the computer to the Ketron, and then it is sending its audio out (the sounds it generates) to your keyboard amp.
Another option is to run the Ketron output back into the computer (assuming you have some line-in capability), and then run the computer output to the amp (which will mix the audio and midi sounds together).
I'm not a Mac guy, but it may be as simple as connecting your headphone jack into the amp (possible through a mixer, although my keyboard amp has multiple inputs, so I can have more than one device plugged in). However, I generally connect a small Behringer mixer to my amp, then run my audio devices (my computer, possibly an iPod, or any other audio device) to the mixer. My Casio keyboard then gets connected directly to the amp, and the sounds get mixed from the keyboard at the amp and everything sounds great.
Don't know if that helps or not.

Hi Bud,
If you uncheck "Enable RealDrums" in RealDrums Settings, you'll automatically get MIDI drums for every song.
You could use either an audio interface that supports direct monitoring, or a mixer (like John mentioned) to merge the signals from the soundcard and the SD2 and send them to the amp together. Then you could use any combination of MIDI and RealTracks/RealDrums, and hear it all through the same speakers.
Thanks Kent PG Music

Gentlemen,
A big thanks to all of you. I have everything working including Real Drums running from headphone jack on Mac to red and white jack on my Roland K-C 150 amp and that interface works great. So I now get best drums and all sounds great with my Korg SV-1 playing along with Bob Norton's Fake Book discs. And thanks John for the mixer suggestion. When I took a hard look at my amp the top plugs and knobs makes it a mini mixer. Someday I am sure I will need that mixer:))) And Bob, thanks for the SD2 suggestion....very, very nice sounds.
My next step is to get the higher bank patches going. This this is the first time I have ever fooled with midi it is a little scary!!! (Maybe being 71 plays into this somehow.
Will my Korg sound better thru MIDI??
All of you who help all of us are just great. It is such a pleasure!!!!
Bud

If you are talking about a Korg keyboard, then it will have it's own sounds (which would have to come out of the Korg audio output itself, not through MIDI). As to whether the Ketron (which accepts MIDI from the Korg) sounds better will have to be based on your own comparison of the different sounds.
I have my keyboard output running to my mixer and the MIDI output running to the computer (which then either runs to my Ketron SD2 or can be processed with a softsynth), so I can choose lots of options for keyboard sounds.

Hey, Bud, where in Northern Virginia are you? I'm in Pensacola, FL, now, but we lived in Woodbridge (well, really Lake Ridge) for 8 years and then in mid-county Prince William County (with a Manassas address) for 19 years.

Cool, Bud.
Before my dad got stationed to Fort Knox, KY, I went to 9th grade at JEB Stuart High School, not too far from Seven Corners. That was a long, long time ago, and a lot has changed since then.
