I noticed this a couple of days ago while working on a song in RealBand.
If I go to the song title field and use the left/right arrow keys to change the cursor position, the Current Position marker in the tracks areas also moves left and right. I would think that only the title field should have the focus for entered keystrokes at that point.

Right, but if the current focus is the title field, left and right arrows should be disabled for other contexts.
I respectfully disagree. Shortcut keys are shortcuts all the time. The software has no way of knowing if you're finished with the title field and are using a shortcut to get back to your work below.
Not to get argumentative, but are you saying that when I try type in the title of my song in the title field and hit the space bar between words in the title, the song should start or stop playing, since the space bar is a short cut key to start playing the song or to stop playing the song if it's already playing? Or, if my song title has a "W" in it, the song should automatically jump back to the beginning of the song when I try to type the "W" in the title field?
I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree to disagree.

That definitely shouldn't be happening. Once the cursor has been placed in the Song Title field, focus is on that field and the cursor in Tracks shouldn't move.
That being said, I can't replicate the issue. Which build of RealBand are you using?
Kent- My bad...I stated it wrong (I posted from work, which isn't my music computer). Anyway, it's not the title field (I was posting from memory after it happened); it does it when changing the name of the track itself. See attached YouTube video:
BTW, I'm using RealBand 2016 (10) Build 1

Thanks for video John! That helped me see the issue and I was able to replicate.
I guess a workaround for now is to simply drag/highlight with the mouse on the portion of the title you would want to rename once you are in that field. I tried doing a CTRL+A to select the whole name to edit that way and that selected the .wav file.

Noted. My response was based on looking at the manual. There are a lot of keyboard shortcuts and the functionality of some depend on which screen is on focus. In the manual, I didn't see where the functionality of "<" and ">" shortcuts change so I assumed they were always meant to be available. The spacebar and "w" are typically used while typing text so it makes sense their functionality would change when in a text field. Normally I don't use "<" or ">" while typing text so I did not consider them as such.
My issue with the position marker, and I may not be explaining it clearly, is that the screen moves when I use the mouse wheel to zoom.
For example, if i am playing through a song, and the scrolling cursor in the play window is at bar 89 (to pick a number), and I decide that I want to go back to bar 38 and make an edit at that point, if I scroll my screen back, move the "play cursor" to bar 36 (just in front of the proposed edit) BUT NOT HIT PLAY, when I hit that wheel it goes back to the last place it PLAYED. It doesn't stay at the spot I moved the cursor to. I have to move the cursor, briefly hit play and then stop, and the cursor will stay where I need it for the edit. That is VERY annoying.
Yes, I'm pretty sure that I've seen that problem too, and thought it must have been me.
This needs fixing, please.
However, maybe it deserves it's own thread?

I think I understand what you mean, but I'm not able to replicate that one so it may have been fixed already. I can click anywhere and zoom with the mouse wheel, and the zoom is always centered on where I've clicked (without hitting Play).
VideoTrack, is that happening to you in RealBand 2016?
I just had that issue yesterday and even hitting Play first didn't help. The instant I hit the scroll wheel to expand the view of the tracks the cursor jumped off the screen to the left and I had to use the scroll bar at the bottom to find it again.
What I did was reinstall the latest update and that fixed it.
I've posted about this kind of thing before. RB somehow gets itself what, out of alignment? Internally screwed up? I don't know how to describe it, it's just weird. It only happens when I'm really working the program, doing a lot of edits or in this case generating and regenerating a lot of Real Drums to put a drum track together. I've also seen strange stuff happen when I've done a lot of piano roll midi edits too. None of these little things happen all the time, they are all different. Sometimes simply closing/reopening fixes it and other times like this one reinstalling the latest update fixes it.
